PROJECTS
"AWF is important because it’s a conduit for good design reaching vulnerable communities. It is both an enabler and an empoweree. That’s why I was inspired to get involved with this practical group of people who are fiercely determined to make design accessible in often inaccessible circumstances."

Sonja is a Director and Partner at Studio BE, a design practice she co-founded in 2025. She was previously a Director at Hames Sharley, serving on the Board and leading national interiors, and prior to that, Principal at GroupGSA following the acquisition of her own studio, Artillery. With over 25 years' experience, her work focuses on the psychology of space and design for social impact. Sonja leads “The Working Brain,” a neurodiversity-focused research initiative, and guest lectures at the New York School of Interior Design. She sits on RMIT’s Interior Design Industry Advisory Panel.
