Cakaudrove Women's Resource Centre

Loata is a passionate and compelling communicator, and a champion of meaningful connection and co-design in the Australia Pacific region.

Loata is an architectural practitioner with more than 25 years’ experience working in design, community development and research in Fiji, Brisbane and Sydney, as well as post graduate training in emergency and disaster management at the Queensland University of Technology.

Loata’s work advocates for women architects in practice and for Indigenous Fijian women as active co-designers of their built environment. She is the founder of Women Build women’s research practice, which conducts community consultation and research for design and housing solutions and the impacts of climate change in the Pacific.

Loata was a driving force in Architects Without Frontiers’ Cakaudrove Women’s Resource Centre project, researching and workshopping with iTaukei (Indigenous) Fijian women of the Cakaudrove province to develop the project into Ita Tadra – ‘our dreaming’.
