PROJECT: MUANIVATU TRAILS VILLAGE-OWNED TOURISM FACILITY
PROJECT TYPE: INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
LOCATION: VUADOMO, FIJI
PARTNER: HGA STUDIO
FUNDER: SELF FUNDED
CLIENT: MUANIVATU TRAILS
Fiji’s first fully community-owned ecotourism and accommodation business.

Owned by a Clan trust, the business is part of a community strategic plan to develop a “Smart Village” supporting sustainable business and tourism development, preserving culture and heritage and mitigating against the effects of climate change.

Architects Without Frontiers and HGA Studio are developing designs for a series of accommodation units along a pathway to the village waterfall. Each homestay unity would be paired with a host home withing the village, whose family would be responsible for hosting the guests.

Status: Phase 1 (Concept Plan) Completed

Partner: HGA Studio
