A relocation strategy for a village affected by flood and storm surge.

During periods of heavy rain and high tide, the Fijian village of Vunivau can be inundated by up to two metres above the village ground and cut off from the road to Labasa for hours.

AWF and Network Partner Hassell Studio are working together with the people of Vunivau to formulate an urban design strategy for Vunivau and other Fijian villages forced to relocate due to rising flood levels and storm surge exacerbated by climate change.

Hassell Studio are preparing a village masterplan as well concept plans for a range of housing typologies, village halls and community facilities
